The Purpose of Prayer

When we pray, it's not to inform God of our needs, but to express our trust in Him. God already knows what we need, as Jesus says, "Your Father knows what you need before you ask him" (Matthew 6:8). Prayer is a way to communicate with God, to align ourselves with His holy will, and to discern His will. It's a means to build an intimate relationship with Him. As the Bible says, "We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans" (Romans 8:26). Prayer is not just about getting answers from God, but about having perfect and complete oneness with Him.

Prayer and Sovereignty

Some may wonder, "If God is in control, why pray?" The Bible teaches that God wants us to pray because prayer expresses our trust in Him. It's not about changing God's mind or getting Him to do something He wouldn't do otherwise. Prayer is a way to submit to God's sovereignty and trust in His goodness. As the Bible says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). Prayer is not about manipulating God, but about aligning ourselves with His will.
