The Things We Leave Behind

When we choose to follow Jesus, we often leave behind the things that once held us captive. These can be patterns of behavior, relationships, or even parts of ourselves that we thought defined us. The enemy of our souls, Satan, seeks to keep us in bondage to these things, often through deception and manipulation. However, when we surrender to God's love and grace, we begin to shed these old skins and take on new identities in Christ.

The Things We Keep Hidden

Sometimes, we may try to hide behind our struggles, our fears, or our weaknesses. We may feel ashamed or embarrassed, and so we conceal our true selves from others. However, this only gives the enemy a foothold in our lives. When we try to keep our true selves hidden, we are, in effect, giving Satan a seat at our table. We are allowing him to dictate our lives and relationships, rather than surrendering to God's sovereignty. As Christians, we must learn to be vulnerable and honest with others, trusting in God's love and acceptance.

The Things We Leave to God

In the midst of our struggles and uncertainties, we must learn to leave things to God. This doesn't mean that we become passive or indifferent; rather, it means that we trust in God's goodness and sovereignty. When we leave things to God, we are acknowledging that He is in control and that His plans are better than our own. This is not a passive surrender, but an active trust that releases us from the burdens of our own control. As we learn to leave things to God, we will find freedom from the enemy's grip and a deeper sense of peace and joy in our lives.
