The Assurance of God's Presence

When we're no longer needed, we may wonder if God's presence will be there to comfort us. The Bible assures us that God will never leave us. This is a promise that stands firm regardless of our circumstances. However, human frailty can sometimes get in the way of fully experiencing God's assurance. When we're faced with difficulties, our feeble human nature can make us feel like God's words of comfort are distant and unattainable.

The Impermanence of Human Needs

Our physical needs, such as food, water, and shelter, are temporary and will cease with the life that now is. This is a natural consequence of living in a world that is subject to decay and death. However, our emotional and spiritual needs can be more complex and deeply rooted. We may struggle with feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, or anger when our needs are not met. But what happens when our needs are no longer met in the way we expect? This can lead to feelings of frustration, anger, and even despair.

The Eternal Need for God

In the midst of uncertainty and impermanence, we are reminded of our eternal need for God. The Bible teaches that we are created to be in relationship with God, and that our deepest needs are spiritual in nature. When we recognize our need for God, we can begin to experience the comfort and peace that comes from His presence. This is not a feeling that is dependent on our circumstances, but rather a reality that is grounded in the promises of God's Word. As we surrender our need for control and our desire to be needed, we can begin to experience the freedom and joy that comes from living in the presence of God. Ultimately, our need for God is not something that will cease with the life that now is, but rather something that will continue into eternity.
