Can I lose God's love?

The Bible teaches that God's love for us is not based on our feelings or actions, but on His character and nature. His love is a steadfast and unchanging love that will never depart from us (Hebrews 13:5). However, our relationship with God can be affected by our choices and actions. If we prioritize our love for other things, such as money, pleasure, or even our own pride, over our love for God, it can lead to a diminished love for Him (Matthew 6:24). This is not because God's love for us is diminished, but because our love for Him is not as strong as it could be.

In the Bible, there are examples of people who struggled with feeling distant from God or doubting His love for them. Job, for instance, felt abandoned by God despite his faithfulness (Job 6:1-7:21). However, the Bible also teaches that God's love is not dependent on our feelings or circumstances. His love is a promise that will never fail, even in the midst of suffering or pain (Romans 8:28). To experience this love, we must seek God with our whole heart, surrendering our will and priorities to Him (Matthew 22:37-40). This means letting go of our own desires and seeking God's will above all else.

Ultimately, it is not possible to lose God's love, but it is possible to lose our sense of connection with Him. This can happen when we prioritize other things over our relationship with God or when we doubt His love for us. However, God's love is not based on our feelings or actions, but on His character and nature. If we seek Him with our whole heart and surrender our will to Him, we can experience His love in a deeper and more meaningful way. As the Bible says, "Whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it" (Mark 8:35). This means that when we prioritize our love for God above all else, we will experience a deeper sense of peace, joy, and satisfaction in our lives.
