Question: Can I still trust God when everything feels like a nightmare?

When everything feels like a nightmare, it can be challenging to trust God. The tendency to question God's sovereignty and goodness can be overwhelming. However, the Bible reminds us that God is holy love, and He is with us even in the midst of turmoil. In Isaiah 50:10-11, God says, "Who among you fears the Lord and obeys his servant? If you are patient when he comes to you, come to you like rain or like spring showers that water the earth." God promises to give us the strength and courage we need to trust Him, even when everything seems hopeless.

The Bible also reminds us that trusting God is not about being confident in ourselves or other people, but about placing our trust in Him alone. In Job 13:15, Job says, "Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him." This is not a weak and pitiful emotion, but a strong and vigorous confidence built on the fact that God is holy love. Even when we cannot see Him or feel His presence, we can trust that He is working everything out for our good. In Romans 8:28, Paul writes, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." God is not making us jump through unnecessary hoops, but He is working everything out for our ultimate good.

The Bible also reminds us that God will not betray the trust of the righteous. In Psalm 22:5, it says, "You have answered me." In Romans 9:33, Paul writes, "But who can bring what is born of a woman to take heed of these things? Then I will rise up, says the Lord, and will pity them." In 1 Peter 2:6, it says, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believes on him shall not be confounded." God is our rock, our refuge, and our shelter. We can trust Him, even when everything feels like a nightmare. He is with us, and He will see us through. We can trust that He is working everything out for our good, and that He will not betray our trust.
