The Importance of Serving God, Not Just Working

When we approach our daily work with a sense of obligation or duty, rather than a sense of service to God, we can become disillusioned and unfulfilled. This is because our work is not just about getting a paycheck or achieving success, but about using our talents and abilities to glorify God and serve others. When we prioritize our relationship with God and seek to serve Him in all aspects of our lives, including our work, we can find meaning and purpose even in difficult or challenging circumstances.

As the Bible teaches, we are called to be "active" in our service to God (Romans 12:11). This means being intentional and deliberate in our pursuit of serving Him, rather than just going through the motions of our daily routines. When we serve God from a grateful heart, we can find joy and satisfaction in our work, even when it's difficult or unpleasant. This is because we are motivated by a sense of love and devotion to God, rather than just a desire to please others or achieve success.

If we are no longer able to work due to age, illness, or other circumstances, it's essential to remember that our value and worth come from our relationship with God, not from our productivity or contributions to society. As the Bible says, "We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10). Even in retirement or disability, we can continue to serve God and find purpose and meaning in our lives by serving others, volunteering, or engaging in other activities that bring us joy and fulfillment. By keeping our focus on serving God, rather than just working, we can find peace and contentment, even in the midst of challenging circumstances.
