Biblical Answer

Suffering is a common experience for many people, and it can be a challenging and painful experience. The Bible teaches us that God is aware of our suffering and that He can be trusted in the midst of it. In fact, the Bible says that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). This means that God is not distant or aloof, but rather He is present with us in our pain and suffering.

The Bible also teaches us that Jesus, who suffered on the cross for our sins, understands our suffering. He knows what it is like to feel pain and rejection, and He is able to sympathize with us in our suffering (Hebrews 4:15). This means that we do not have to face our suffering alone, but rather we can turn to Jesus, who understands us and can provide comfort and strength in the midst of our pain. The Bible also reminds us that God is good and generous, and that He uses suffering to refine us and to draw us closer to Himself (Romans 5:3-5).

In the midst of suffering, it is easy to ask questions about God's love and sovereignty. Why does God allow suffering? Is He still good if He allows us to experience pain and hardship? The Bible teaches us that God's ultimate goal is to draw us closer to Himself, and that He uses suffering to refine us and to make us more like Christ (Romans 8:28-29). This means that even in the midst of suffering, we can trust that God is working everything out for our good, and that He will ultimately bring us through our pain and into a place of joy and peace. Ultimately, our goal is not to understand why God allows suffering, but rather to trust Him in the midst of it, and to find comfort and strength in His presence. As the psalmist says, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18).
