Biblical Answer

As I reflect on the question, I'm reminded of the importance of facing shame with honesty and integrity. As a pastor, I've seen how shame can lead people to despair, but I also know that God's forgiveness can cover both guilt and shame. I'm afraid to face the possibility of my children finding out about my past struggles with pornography, not because I'm ashamed of my failures, but because I fear the potential consequences of their disappointment and hurt.

However, I've come to realize that shame can be a heavy burden to carry, and it's not something that I can face alone. I've been fortunate to have a supportive wife, Susan, who has been a source of encouragement and guidance throughout my journey. I've also sought the counsel of other trusted friends and mentors who have helped me to navigate the complexities of shame and guilt. Through their support and guidance, I've been able to begin the process of healing and restoration.

For me, facing death is not just about taking away the pain of shame, but also about being honest with myself and others about my past mistakes. I want to be able to look my children in the eye and say, "I'm sorry for my failures, and I'm committed to doing better." I want to be able to say that with confidence and integrity, knowing that I've taken concrete steps to counteract my past failures and prevent them from happening again. That's what I expect death to do for me - to give me the opportunity to live a more authentic and honest life, free from the weight of shame and guilt.
