Understanding Faith in the Midst of Adversity

When your life is falling apart, it can be challenging to understand the point of having faith. It's natural to feel discouraged and overwhelmed by circumstances that seem insurmountable. However, faith is not about avoiding difficulties or changing circumstances; it's about trusting God in the midst of them. As 1 Peter 1:5 says, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." This means that faith is not about feeling strong or confident, but about relying on God's promises and character, even when we don't see the outcome.

The Power of Faith in Adversity

Faith is not a feeling, but a choice to trust God, even when our emotions and circumstances suggest otherwise. It's about surrendering our will to God's sovereignty and trusting that He is working everything out for our good (Romans 8:28). When we exercise faith, we're not trying to change our circumstances, but we're trusting that God is working in and through us, even in the midst of difficulties. As Hebrews 11:1 says, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." This means that faith is not about feeling strong or confident, but about relying on God's promises and character, even when we don't see the outcome.

Developing Dynamic Faith

Developing dynamic faith requires a daily personal time with God, where we talk to Him and He talks to us. This is when we establish a prayer-relationship with God, and He helps us to see things from His perspective. Faith is not about being in a good mood or feeling confident; it's about trusting God, even when we don't feel like it. As the psalms say, "Faith is the work of the Spirit of God." When we speak the psalms, we are doing faith. So, let's not let our feelings define our faith. Instead, let's turn to the Lord and trust Him, even in the midst of adversity. As Jesus said, "Have faith in God" (Mark 11:22). When we do, we'll experience the power of God working in and through us, even in the midst of difficulties.
