In the darkest night, when love is put to the test, hope is sparked by the promise of a new dawn. Love, like justice, freedom, power, truth, beauty, and spirituality, raises questions that point beyond the present darkness. It is in this context that we find the transformative power of love, which gives birth to the missiology of love. Even broken signposts, representing the imperfections of human relationships, will laugh and sing for joy when love's epistemology is applied.

The Bible teaches us that love is the greatest commandment (Matthew 22:37-40). It is the foundation of our faith, and the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Love is the test of our relationship with God and with others. When we love, we demonstrate our intimacy with God, and our capacity to forgive and be forgiven (1 Corinthians 13:2, 8, 13). Love is not just a feeling, but a choice, a decision to put the needs of others before our own (Philippians 2:3-4). It is the means by which we experience true intimacy, better than any human relationship can provide (Ephesians 3:14-19).
