Your Question:

Why did God allow this to happen?

Answer:

As a pastor and a Christian, I've grappled with this question many times. It seems that God chooses not to intervene in every situation, even when we might wish He would. I believe this is because He wants to give us the freedom to choose, to make decisions based on our own will. This is a fundamental aspect of our relationship with Him - that we are free to accept or reject Him.

In the Bible, we see examples of how God's plans were not always what people expected. For instance, the Israelites were meant to be a light to the nations, but instead, they were enslaved in Egypt. Yet, God used this very situation to demonstrate His power and bring them out stronger. Similarly, in the story of Joseph, his brothers' actions were meant to harm him, but God used them to elevate Joseph to a position of power.

I don't have all the answers, and I may not fully understand why God allows certain things to happen. But I do know that He is a loving and just God who always has our best interests at heart. As the passage from 1 Peter 4:19 says, "Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will do right and entrust their souls to a faithful Creator." This means that even when we don't understand what's happening, we can trust that God is working all things for our good.
