Question: How do I know that God is still with me even when things seem darkest?

When faced with the darkness, it's natural to feel isolated and alone. The more extreme the suffering, the more intense the feelings of abandonment. However, this doesn't mean that God has abandoned us. In fact, God is always present, even when we can't feel it. The Bible says, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:13). This means that God is always available to us, even in the darkest moments.

To know that God is still with us, we need to listen to Him, not just talk to Him. When we're in the dark, it's tempting to talk to others or seek answers in books, but this can distract us from hearing God's voice. Instead, we should remain quiet and listen to what God is saying. As Jesus said, "There are times when God cannot lift the darkness from you, but you should trust Him" (John 16:33). This means that even when we can't feel God's presence, we can trust that He is still with us.

In the midst of darkness, it's easy to doubt God's love and sovereignty. We may wonder why He allows us to suffer and feel abandoned. However, this is where faith comes in. Faith is not feeling, but knowing that God will do something, even when we don't know what He will do. We can trust that God is working in our lives, even when we can't see it. As the Psalmist says, "Clouds and darkness surround Him, but He is the One who gives the law to us" (Psalm 97:2). This means that even in the darkness, God is still giving us direction and guidance.
