God's Love and Hopelessness

When we feel hopeless, it's easy to wonder if God still loves us. The Bible tells us that God's love for us is not based on our feelings, but on His character. His love is relentless and unwavering, not dependent on our actions or emotions. In Psalm 138:8, it says, "The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O God, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands." This verse reminds us that God's love for us is not based on our performance, but on His sovereign plan.

It's also important to note that feelings can lie. Just because we don't feel God's presence or love doesn't mean it's not there. In fact, the Bible says that God's love for us is a much safer subject to focus on than our own experiences or feelings. When we focus on God's love, our affection for Him will increase, and our hope will be inexpressibly bright (Isaiah 26:3). This is not a feeling-based relationship, but a reality-based one. God's love for us is not dependent on our emotions, but on His character.

So, does God still love us when we feel hopeless? Absolutely! His love for us is not based on our feelings, but on His character. He is always there in our midst, working things out for good when we pray and look to Him to do so (Romans 8:28). When we feel hopeless, we must humble ourselves before the Lord and surrender everything to Him. It is only through abandonment of ourselves and our circumstances that we will find true hope and peace in His love. As the Bible says, "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you" (Isaiah 26:3). Let us focus on God's love and character, rather than our own feelings, and find true hope and peace in Him.
