Prioritizing Love in a Busy and Oppressive World

When the world is against us and life gets busy, prioritizing love can be a daunting task. We may feel overwhelmed by the demands of our daily lives, and the pressures of those around us can make it difficult to focus on what truly matters. However, as Christians, we are called to prioritize love above all else. This means recognizing that our love for God and others must take precedence over our own needs and desires.

To prioritize love, we must first acknowledge that our love is not just a feeling, but a choice. We must choose to put God first, above all else, and then choose to love others as we love ourselves. This requires us to be intentional about our relationships and to prioritize time with God and with those we love. We must also be willing to let go of things that steal our time and attention, and focus on what truly matters. As C.S. Lewis said, "We must be cautious about calling Need-love mere selfishness. Mere is always a dangerous word." Our need for love and connection is not selfish, but rather a fundamental aspect of our humanity.

Prioritizing love also means being willing to yield to the higher when our relationships come into conflict. We must be willing to put the needs of others and God above our own needs and desires. This requires humility, selflessness, and a willingness to sacrifice. As Frank Sheed said, "Love is not blind, but it is willing to see the other person's point of view." When we prioritize love, we are able to see the world from God's perspective, and to act with godly motives. This brings joy and fulfillment, and helps us to navigate even the most difficult challenges with ease. By prioritizing love, we are able to find purpose and meaning in our lives, and to experience the ultimate significance that comes from living a life that is centered on God.
