Is fear a sin according to the Bible?

The concept of fear in the Bible is multifaceted and can be misunderstood. While the word "fear" in modern English conveys an idea of fright and dread, the Hebrew word used in the Old Testament, "yirah," carries a broader meaning of reverence, awe, and respect. The fear of the Lord, as taught in the Bible, is not about being terrified or living in dread, but rather about having a deep reverence and respect for God's greatness and power.
