Your Question:
What's the meaning of life when everything feels like it's a never-ending struggle?
Answer:
As I reflect on the struggles we face in life, I'm reminded of the psalmist's words in Psalm 73. He describes his life as "meaningless" and feeling like he's lost his footing on the path. But, as I look back, I realize that struggles are not the end, but rather a means to character development and self-sacrifice. It's when we put our struggles within the context of our Christian faith that they become profitable. The Bible teaches us that meaninglessness is not the end, but rather the mother of meaning. As Ecclesiastes 7:10 says, "Say not, 'Why were the former days better than these?' For it is not wise to ask such questions." It's easy to get caught up in the feeling that things are not the way they ought to be, but we must continue to seek and find meaning in our lives. We must listen to others who have gone through similar struggles and continue to look for purpose and meaning. For me, as a pastor and a Christian, I've come to understand that our struggles are not just about us, but about our relationship with God. When we accept Christ as our Savior, our personal relationship with God is established, and our struggles become an opportunity for growth and refinement. As Jesus says, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). With this perspective, our struggles become a chance to become more like Jesus and to discover the purpose and meaning that we seek.
