Maintaining Faith in a World of Unbelief

As a follower of Jesus Christ, it's not uncommon to feel like you're the only one who still believes. When everyone around you seems to be losing their faith, it can be tempting to doubt your own convictions. But remember, faith is not about what others think or do; it's about your personal relationship with God. To maintain your faith in a world of unbelief, start by establishing a daily prayer-relationship with God. This is when you talk to Him and He talks to you, friend to friend. As you do this, you'll begin to experience faith that's not based on circumstances, but on God's unchanging character.

Overcoming Obstacles to Faith

When you're facing obstacles to your faith, it's essential to identify the root cause. Ask yourself questions like: What's holding back the development of my faith? What's the obstacle that's preventing me from growing in my faith? Once you've identified the issue, you can start to address it. Remember, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). So, pray specifically about any obstacle in your life, asking God to enlighten you and give you strength to overcome it. Don't try to occupy yourself with your concerns, worries, and efforts, but turn them all over to Christ. He's the one who can give you the faith to overcome any obstacle.

Growing in Faith

Growing in faith is like developing strong muscles – you must continually use them or you'll lose your strength. As you face challenges and difficulties, remember that your faith may not change circumstances, but it can glorify God in difficult circumstances. So, hold steadfastly to your confidence in Him, and everything that challenges you will strengthen your faith. Don't be discouraged if you're not seeing immediate results; faith is not based on any victory you've ever had, but on God's unchanging character. As you continue to talk to God, read His Word, and trust in His sovereignty, you'll begin to experience dynamic faith that will carry you through even the toughest times. And remember, God is faithful, and He will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24). He will give you the faith you need to overcome any obstacle and grow in your relationship with Him.
