Why is God so silent when I'm screaming for help?
When we cry out for help, it's natural to feel like God is silent. But the truth is, God is not silent. He has spoken to us through His Word, the Bible, and He continues to speak to us through the Holy Spirit. The problem is not that God is not speaking, but that we are not listening. We prefer to listen to others, even those who are well-intentioned, rather than to God Himself. We like to hear personal testimonies and stories, but we don't want God to speak to us directly. This is a sign of our lack of love for God and our preference for human wisdom over divine wisdom.
The reason we don't hear God's voice is that we are not sensitive to it. The Holy Spirit speaks to us in gentle whispers, but we often ignore these whispers because we are too busy or too distracted. We need to learn to listen to God before we speak, to be still and quiet before Him, and to seek His guidance in all things. This is not a one-time event, but a daily practice that requires us to be intentional about seeking God's presence and guidance. As we learn to listen to God, we will begin to hear His voice more clearly, and we will be able to discern His will for our lives.
God's silence is not a sign of His absence, but rather a sign of His sovereignty. He knows what we need, and He is always working to bring about good in our lives. Even when we don't understand why God is not answering our prayers, we can trust that He is working everything out for our good. As the psalmist said, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping me?" (Psalm 22:1). But even in the midst of suffering and pain, God is always present, and He is always working to bring about redemption and restoration. We can trust that He is always speaking to us, even when we don't hear His voice. And we can trust that He is always working to bring about good in our lives, even when we don't understand what He is doing.
