Is God still present even when I don't feel Him?

The question of whether God is still present even when we don't feel Him is a common one, especially during times of suffering or spiritual dryness. The Bible teaches us that our feelings can be deceiving and that we should not rely solely on our emotions to determine God's presence in our lives. In 1 Peter 5:8, we are told that Satan roams around like a lion looking for someone to devour, which means that we can be susceptible to his attacks and feel like God is absent.

However, the Bible also teaches us that God is sovereign and present in all circumstances, even when we don't feel it. In Psalm 42-43, the psalmist cries out to God, expressing his desire for a more tangible sense of God's presence. Yet, in Job 1:21, we see Job's response to losing everything, saying, "The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised." This shows that even in the midst of suffering, we can still acknowledge and praise God's sovereignty. In fact, the Bible teaches us that God's presence is not always evident, but it is always real (Hebrews 13:5-6).

So, how can we be sure that God is still present even when we don't feel Him? We can start by recognizing that our feelings are not always a reliable indicator of God's presence. We can also look to the Bible and the testimonies of other believers who have experienced God's presence in their lives, even in the midst of suffering. Ultimately, our faith is not based on our feelings, but on the objective truth of God's Word. We can trust that God is present and working in our lives, even when we don't feel it, and that He is always with us, guiding and directing us towards Himself. (Romans 8:28)
