Can I still have a sense of security?

The answer is yes, but not in the way the world defines it. The Bible teaches us that our sense of security should be based on our relationship with God, not on our possessions, accomplishments, or human authorities. In Psalm 37:3-4, it says, "Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." This verse emphasizes the importance of trusting in God for our security, rather than in our own abilities or circumstances.

A false sense of security can be a major obstacle to faith and spiritual growth. When we rely on our own strength or human authorities for security, we can become complacent and lose sight of our need for God. As the Bible says in 1 John 2:15-17, "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever." This verse warns us against becoming too comfortable in the world and losing sight of our spiritual priorities.

In contrast, a true sense of security comes from knowing that God is in control and that He loves us unconditionally. As the Bible says in Romans 8:28-30, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified." This verse reminds us that God is sovereign and that He is working all things together for our good. When we trust in God's sovereignty and love, we can have a deep sense of security that is not based on our circumstances or abilities, but on our relationship with Him.
