Can our words bring healing to a hurting heart?

Yes, our words can bring healing to a hurting heart. In fact, Jesus tells us that our words have the power to bring life or death (Matthew 12:36-37). When we speak, our words can either heal or inflict damage. As the Bible says, "The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit" (Proverbs 18:21). Our words can restore joy to an anxious person (Proverbs 12:25) and bring healing to a wounded soul.

However, our words can also be hurtful and cause more damage. When we speak without considering the impact of our words, we can cause harm and perpetuate bitterness and anger. This is especially true when we fail to take responsibility for our actions and instead shift the blame onto others. Our words can be like a sword that cuts deep and causes lasting harm (Proverbs 12:18). Therefore, we must be mindful of the words we speak and choose to use them to build up and encourage others, rather than tearing them down.
