Jesus' teachings on helping others in need are rooted in his own example of compassion and service. He often went out of his way to help those in need, even when it wasn't requested of him. For instance, when Jesus saw the widow of Nain mourning the death of her son, he was moved with compassion and raised the young man from the dead (Luke 7:11-17). This act of kindness was not a one-time event, but rather a pattern of behavior for Jesus. He consistently showed mercy and compassion to those around him, whether it was a woman who had been hemorrhaging for twelve years (Mark 5:21-43) or a blind man who had been begging by the side of the road (Mark 8:22-26).
