Will I lose my home?

As we navigate the challenges of life, it's natural to wonder about the stability of our earthly possessions, including our homes. The Bible reminds us that our homes are not permanent and that we are only temporary residents on this earth. In Psalm 39:12, it says, "So I turned my heart to understand and to search out and to seek wisdom and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly and the foolishness that is madness." This verse highlights the fleeting nature of earthly possessions, including our homes.

In Isaiah 56:7, God promises to establish a house for us, but in the context of the passage, it's clear that this refers to a spiritual house, not a physical one. The verse says, "My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations." This emphasizes the importance of spiritual dwelling places, where we can come to worship and seek God's presence. The Bible also reminds us that our true home is with God, as Jesus said, "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you" (John 14:12).

In the face of uncertainty about our physical homes, we must not lose sight of our spiritual dwelling place. As 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 says, "Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy that person. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple." This verse reminds us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and that we must take care to honor and glorify God in our lives. Ultimately, our eternal home is with God, and our physical homes are but temporary dwellings.
