Why Did God Create Marriage?

The Bible teaches that God created marriage to reflect His creative genius and to provide a means of fulfilling our lives. However, it is clear that God did not create marriage to compete with Himself. When we seek to get the largest portion of our life's fulfillment from our relationship with our spouse, we are asking too much from marriage. Instead, God designed marriage to be a relationship of fellowship, oneness, and wholeness love, where two people can bind themselves to each other and surrender to each other's needs.

God created marriage for three primary purposes: to reflect His creative genius, to provide a means of fulfilling our lives, and to sanctify us. The first purpose of marriage is to provide a means of fulfilling our lives, but this is not the ultimate goal.
