Why is God allowing this to happen to me when I'm already struggling?
God's sovereignty and the mystery of His reasons are often at the heart of our struggles to understand why He allows certain things to happen. As Christians, we must acknowledge that God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). This means that we may not always understand why God allows us to face struggles or hardships. However, this does not mean that we are on our own or that God is not working in our lives. In fact, the Bible teaches us that God uses suffering to refine us, to make us more like Christ, and to teach us valuable lessons about His character and love (Romans 5:3-5, James 1:2-4).
It's also important to note that our struggles often stem from our own sinful nature and our failure to trust God completely. As James 4:7-8 reminds us, "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you." When we resist God's will and fail to submit to Him, we open ourselves up to the enemy's attacks and sufferings. Furthermore, our own self-centeredness and lack of faith can also lead to struggles and hardships. As Hebrews 11:6 reminds us, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." When we fail to trust God and His goodness, we may find ourselves struggling with doubts, fears, and unfulfilled expectations.
Ultimately, our struggles and hardships are opportunities for us to grow in our faith, to trust God more deeply, and to learn valuable lessons about His character and love. As the Bible reminds us, "We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope" (Romans 5:3-4). By embracing our struggles and trusting God's sovereignty, we can find peace, comfort, and strength in the midst of adversity. As the psalmist writes, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). May we learn to trust God's goodness and sovereignty, even in the midst of our struggles and hardships.
