Your Question:
How do we prioritize unity over division when our actions have global consequences?
Answer:
As a pastor and a husband, I've seen firsthand the importance of unity in our personal and community lives. When it comes to prioritizing unity over division, I believe it's essential to recognize that our actions have global consequences. This means that we must strive for a unity that's not just about agreeing on a common goal, but about being one in the basic scriptural nature of substance, as the doctrine of the Trinity teaches. To prioritize unity, we must integrate every aspect of life under the lordship of Christ, rather than compartmentalizing between sacred and secular. This means that even in our daily tasks, like changing diapers or repairing a car, we should seek to honor God and live out our faith. By doing so, we can reduce frustration and division, and instead focus on what unites us as believers. As the Bible says, "Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). In my own life, I've learned the importance of prioritizing unity through my marriage and family. My wife Susan and I have been married for 19 years, and we've learned to put our relationship first, even when it's challenging. Our son Joshua and daughter Rebecca are also learning the value of unity and living out their faith in their daily lives. As a family, we strive to be one in purpose and will, just as the Trinity is one in substance. By doing so, we can make a positive impact not just in our community, but globally, and bring glory to God in all that we do.
