Biblical Answer

To find a new purpose, we must first understand that our purpose in life is not something we create for ourselves, but rather it is something that God has created for us. As the Bible says, "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10). Our purpose is not to achieve some end or goal, but rather to enjoy God and take pleasure in Him. This is a fundamental shift in perspective, as it moves our focus from ourselves to God.

In order to discover God's purpose for our lives, we must surrender our own understanding and ways, and allow God to take us directly into His purpose. This requires a willingness to let go of our own desires and ambitions, and to be guided by God's plan. As Dallas Willard says, "We must learn that the purpose of my life belongs to God, not to me." This means that we must be willing to update our life plan and make changes as necessary, in order to align ourselves with God's purpose. We must also be willing to face our own weaknesses and limitations, and to ask for God's help and guidance.

Ultimately, finding a new purpose requires a deepening of our relationship with God, and a surrendering of our own desires and ambitions to His plan. As the Bible says, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). God has a purpose for our lives, and it is our responsibility to seek Him and to follow His plan. By doing so, we will find a sense of direction and purpose that is fulfilling and meaningful.
