The Teaching of Jesus on Sharing Resources

Jesus taught us that sharing our resources is not just about being good managers of God's resources, but also about being sacrificial givers. He modeled this behavior for us by laying down his life for us, and he expects us to do the same for others, particularly those in need. This means that we should share our resources with the needy, including our time and talents.

The Biblical Perspective on Sharing

In biblical terms, sharing is good when it involves impersonal possessions, such as commodities we consume for health or pleasure. This type of sharing is unselfish and puts the good of others before our own interests. Jesus often spoke about money and the dangers of wealth, and much of his teaching on the subject is disturbing. He sometimes seemed to be recommending that his disciples give away everything they had, but this was not a call to poverty, but rather a call to live a life that is centered on God and His kingdom.

The Importance of Sacrificial Giving

Jesus taught that it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35), and he expected his disciples to live out this principle. When we share our resources with others, we are not just giving away our possessions, we are also giving away our time and talents. This type of giving is sacrificial, and it requires us to be willing to let go of our own interests and desires. As we do this, we will experience the blessing of God and be a part of His kingdom. We should not view sharing as a burden, but rather as an opportunity to be a part of God's work in the world. As the Bible says, "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35).
