Understanding Our Life in Heaven

The idea that we will remember our life on earth in heaven is a common question and concern. Some people worry that they will be haunted by memories of past sins or regretful actions. However, Scripture provides us with a different perspective on this issue. In Isaiah 65:17, it is written that "new heavens and a new earth" will be created, and "the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind." This verse suggests that our memories of the past will fade away in the new creation.

The Nature of Our Memory in Heaven

Remembering is essential to our spiritual growth and development in heaven, just as it is essential to our growth and development on earth. As the Psalmist writes, "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night" (Psalm 1:1-2). In heaven, we will be blessed to meditate on God's law and to remember the things that are important to Him.
