The Sovereignty of God in Suffering

When we experience suffering, it's natural to wonder why God allowed it to happen. In the case of a breakup, we may ask, "Why did God take away my partner?" The Bible teaches us that God's sovereignty is not limited to preventing suffering, but also to working through it for our good. As the apostle Paul wrote, "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).

God's Love and Our Response

The question of why God took away our partner is not just about understanding God's sovereignty, but also about responding to his love. As the psalmist wrote, "Behold, the image of God in our spouse" (Psalm 133:1). When we become disengaged and focus on our own desires, we risk creating a deceitful life that leads to separation from God.
