Can I forgive but not forget?

Forgiveness does not mean forgetting. In fact, forgiving someone doesn't erase our memories. It's possible to forgive and still remember the hurtful event or situation. What's important is that we don't hold onto the hurt and resentment. When memories of past hurts flood our mind, it's okay to face them, allow ourselves to remember the incident, and feel the emotions that come with it. However, we should not dwell on those emotions and let them control us. Instead, we should choose to forgive and move forward, trusting that God is the God of justice and saying, "Father, I forgive."

Forgiving someone doesn't mean we're saying what they did is okay. It means we're trusting that God is the God of justice and that He will deal with the situation accordingly. It's possible to forgive someone and still acknowledge the hurt they caused. In fact, acknowledging the hurt is an important part of the forgiveness process. We need to pinpoint what was taken from us and complete the cycle of forgiveness, which involves identifying who we're angry with, acknowledging the hurt, and choosing to forgive. Forgiveness is a process, and it may take time and effort to work through our emotions and come to a place of forgiveness.

Forgiveness is not the same as forgetting. Forgiveness means not holding a person's sin against them. It means choosing to let go of the hurt and resentment and trusting that God will deal with the situation. We can forgive someone and still remember the hurtful event or situation, but we shouldn't let those memories control us. Instead, we should choose to forgive and move forward, trusting in God's justice and sovereignty. As the Bible says, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:31-32) Forgiveness is a key part of living a life that reflects Christian values and teachings.
