Why Does God Let Me Suffer When I'm Doing Everything Right?

#### The Purpose of Suffering

Suffering can be a mystery to us, especially when we feel we are doing everything right. However, God's ways are not our ways, and His purposes often transcend our understanding. One reason God allows suffering is to deepen our knowledge and trust in Him. Through suffering, we can learn to rely on God and trust in His sovereignty, even when we don't understand what's happening.

#### God's Sovereignty and the Mystery of Suffering

The Bible teaches that God is sovereign over all creation, including the sufferings we endure. While we may not understand why God allows us to suffer, we can trust that He has a purpose in it. Sometimes, suffering is a result of living in a sinful, fallen world, and other times, it may be a form of discipline from God to help us grow in our faith. In all cases, we can be assured that God works all things together for our good (Romans 8:28).

#### The Example of Jesus and the Value of Suffering

Jesus Himself suffered greatly for us, leaving us an example to follow in His steps (1 Peter 2:21). Suffering is not something to be avoided or feared but rather something to be endured with joy, knowing that it cannot rob us of the eternal joy that has already begun. Job, in the Bible, is an example of someone who suffered greatly but still took joy in the fact that he had not denied the words of the Holy One (Job 6:10). As we face suffering, we can choose to trust in God's sovereignty and purpose, just as Job did. By doing so, we can find joy in the midst of pain and deepen our relationship with God.
