Understanding Christian Possessions

Christians should view possessions as a means to an end, not an end in themselves. The Bible teaches that our ultimate value and security lie in our relationship with God, not in our material possessions. As Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 7:25-40, our possessions are not ours to keep, but are temporary and subject to change. This eschatological perspective reminds us that our focus should be on the things that are eternal, rather than the things that are temporal.

The Purpose of Possessions

The purpose of possessions is to serve us, not the other way around. As Jesus teaches in Matthew 10:16-42, our possessions should not enslave us, but rather free us to serve God and others. In fact, the Bible teaches that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and that our possessions should be used to honor and glorify God. A Better Possession
