Understanding the Kingdom of God

The kingdom of God is an activity of God, where His dynamic presence, powerful sovereignty, and transforming intervention become visible in history. It is not a location or a group of people, but rather a realm where God's authority and dominion are established. This kingdom has both present and future dimensions, with eternal life being a participant in its culmination. The goal of history is the establishment of God's sovereignty over the human race, and a share in God's kingdom may be enjoyed by faith, in anticipation of the full experience to come.

Seeking the Kingdom of God

To seek the kingdom of God is to live the life of the kingdom, where our attitude to God and our perspective on human behavior are sound. It is to recognize that personal effort cannot achieve entry into the kingdom, and that God's sovereignty is the key to our salvation. Jesus calls on us to repent of our old securities and to renounce our corrupt ways, and to seek first God's kingdom and His righteousness. This means trusting and seeking our heavenly Father, who has our best interests in mind, and not turning against us.

Practically Applying the Kingdom of God in Daily Life

To practically apply the kingdom of God in our daily life, we must passionately follow Jesus and gaze on the Son of God. We must day by day fill our heart with the wonder of the person, gospel, and life of Jesus, and read and reread the Gospels. We must also recognize that the kingdom of God is not just a future reality, but a present reality that we can experience now. By seeking first God's kingdom and His righteousness, we can trust that He will give us everything we need. This means living a life that reflects Christian values and teachings, and being free from sin, and being with our Father, the King. The kingdom of God is a God-saturated society of peace, justice, and love, and by seeking it, we can experience all that God has for us.
