Why did I have to lose my sense of self, and my business?
The Loss of Self and Business: A Journey of Spiritual Growth
As I reflect on my journey of becoming self-employed and losing my sense of self, I realize that it was a necessary step in my spiritual growth. The transition from being an employee to being my own boss was a significant change that forced me to re-evaluate my priorities and values. I had to confront the fact that my sense of self-worth was tied to my career and my business. When I lost my business, I felt like I had lost a part of myself. However, this experience taught me that my identity is not defined by my profession or my achievements, but by my relationship with God.
The Bible teaches us that we were created by God to create (Genesis 1:26-31). However, if we don't create in a thoughtful and worshipful manner, we will feel unfulfilled and disconnected from our purpose. I had become so focused on building my business that I lost sight of my purpose and values. I was driven by ambition and a desire for success, rather than a desire to serve God and others. This experience taught me the importance of living a life that is centered on God and His values, rather than my own desires and ambitions.
The loss of my business was a wake-up call that forced me to re-evaluate my priorities and values. It taught me that true fulfillment and happiness come from living a life that is centered on God and His values, rather than my own desires and ambitions. As I reflect on this experience, I am reminded of the words of Jesus, "For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it" (Luke 9:24). I had been trying to save my life and my business, but in doing so, I lost sight of what truly matters. Now, I am on a journey of spiritual growth, seeking to live a life that is centered on God and His values, rather than my own desires and ambitions.
