The Paradox of Trusting God

When we trust God, we may experience a sense of uncertainty, but this does not negate the fact that God is trustworthy. In fact, the Bible encourages us to trust God even when we don't fully understand His ways (Isaiah 50:10-11). Trusting God is not about having all the answers or being in control, but about surrendering to His sovereignty and acknowledging that He is good and all-sufficient (Psalm 31:19). When we trust God, we are not turning our lives over to Him because we are weak or lack confidence, but because we recognize that we need Him and that He is our true source of strength and guidance.

The Importance of Faith

Faith is not just a feeling or emotion, but a strong and vigorous confidence built on the fact that God is holy love (Job 13:15). When we trust God, we are exercising faith, which is the means by which God guards His people (Psalm 37:4-5). Faith is not just about believing in God's existence, but about entering into personal relations with Him, believing firmly that we shall find Him to be and to do as we trust in Him (Hebrews 11:6). As we respond to God in obedience, we can develop a knack for trusting Him consistently, which is called perseverance (Romans 5:3-4).

Developing Trust in God

Developing trust in God is a process that requires perseverance and practice. As we talk to Christ and seek to do all that He says, we can build our faith by "the practice of the presence of God" (1 Corinthians 2:11-14). When we trust God, we are not just relying on our own understanding, but on His Word and His promises. We can trust God even when things don't make sense or when He says no to our requests. In fact, God wants us to know Him as the source of all good things, and when He says no, He wants us to trust Him (Psalm 37:4-5). By persevering in our trust and obedience, we can develop a strong and vibrant faith that will carry us through even the most difficult times.
