The Purpose of Life: A Biblical Perspective

The major purpose of our life should be to enjoy God and take pleasure in Him (Psalm 37:4). This is the foundation of our purpose, and it should be the driving force behind all our decisions and actions. As the Bible says, "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). This is not just a suggestion, but a promise from God Himself.

A Life of Purpose: Enjoying God

If our retirement is gone, or if we feel like our purpose in life is uncertain, we should not look to materialistic pursuits or earthly goals to fill the void. Instead, we should focus on deepening our relationship with God and enjoying Him more and more. This means spending time in prayer, reading God's Word, and seeking to know Him more intimately. As the Bible says, "Come near to God and He will come near to you" (James 4:8). When we come near to God, we will find purpose and meaning in life, even in the midst of uncertainty or change.

Finding Purpose in God's Plan

In Psalm 138:8, it says, "The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your steadfast love, O God, endures forever." This verse reminds us that our purpose in life is not just something we discover on our own, but something that God has planned for us from the beginning. When we surrender our lives to God and ask Him to fulfill His purpose in us, we can trust that He will do so. This means that even if our retirement is gone, or if we feel like our purpose in life is uncertain, we can still find purpose and meaning in God's plan for us. We just need to be willing to trust Him and follow His lead. As the Bible says, "We live by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7). By faith, we can trust that God will fulfill His purpose in us, even when we can't see it.
