Losing one's sense of identity after losing a business can be a daunting experience. As we've discussed, our sense of identity is often tied to our external markers such as our occupation, social status, and possessions. When we lose our business, we may feel like we've lost a part of ourselves. However, as Christians, we must remember that our true identity is not found in our external markers, but in our relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Bible reminds us that our old self has passed away and we have been made new in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). This means that our identity is not tied to our external circumstances, but to our relationship with God. When we lose our business, we may feel like we've lost our sense of purpose and identity, but we must remember that our purpose and identity are found in Jesus, not in our occupation. As the psalmist says, "You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance" (Psalm 32:7). We must seek refuge in God and remember that our identity is secure in Him.

In order to rebuild our sense of identity after losing a business, we must focus on cultivating a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. This means seeking Him in prayer, reading His Word, and serving others. As we do this, we will begin to see that our identity is not tied to our external circumstances, but to our relationship with God. We will begin to see that we are not defined by our business or occupation, but by our relationship with Jesus. This is a liberating truth that can bring us peace and confidence, even in the midst of uncertainty and change. As the apostle Paul says, "I can do all this through him who gives me strength" (Philippians 4:13). May we find our strength and identity in Jesus Christ, even when our external circumstances change.
