Biblical Answer

The Bible is clear in its condemnation of lying, a behavior that denies the character of God who is truth. The nature of deception is a problem because it involves a conscious intent to deceive, which violates the truth that is embodied in God's word. This is evident in the fact that Jesus said, "I am... the truth" (John 14:6), and that the Comforter is called the Spirit of truth (John 14:17).
