The Dangers of Making Unwise Decisions

When a business fails, it is natural to wonder if it was a mistake or just bad luck. In my experience, I have learned that sometimes unwise decisions can lead to failure. This was the case for me when I made some terrible financial decisions early in my ministry. I was ignorant of big business procedures, but God was gracious and our ministry became stronger because of it. However, I did make some mistakes that could have put Thomas Road Baptist Church and Liberty University out of business. I was not adequately trained in financial management, and our financial records were kept by volunteers who meant well but didn't have adequate training or supervision.

The Importance of Perseverance

It's easy to give up when we experience failure, but that's not the right reaction. Instead, we should learn from our mistakes and use them as opportunities to grow and become stronger. As the Bible says, "You may learn vital lessons from your failures and become stronger." Perseverance is key to overcoming failure. We should not be afraid to try again and again until we succeed. This is especially true when it comes to our spiritual lives. When we face failure, we should ask God to help us learn from our mistakes and to guide us in the right direction.

A Biblical Perspective on Failure

From a biblical perspective, failure is not the end of the world. In fact, it can be a valuable learning experience that helps us become stronger and more resilient. As the Bible says, "You are only a failure when you give up and refuse to try again." This is a powerful reminder that failure is not a permanent state, but rather a temporary setback. When we face failure, we should not be too proud to ask for help and guidance from others. And most importantly, we should remember that God is always with us, even in times of failure. As the Bible says, "Lord, when I fail, I will___" - this is a great prayer to pray when we face failure, and it reminds us that God is always willing to help us learn from our mistakes and become stronger.
