Your Question:

Can I really leave my kids alone in this world?

Answer:

As a father of two teenagers, Joshua and Rebecca, I often worry about the safety and well-being of my children in today's world. It's natural to feel concerned about the dangers that lurk around every corner, from bus stations to online interactions. However, I've come to realize that drawing a line in the sand and suddenly expecting my children to navigate these challenges on their own is not the answer.

As a parent, it's essential to remember that our children are still part of our lives, and our hearts will always be with them, no matter where they go or what they do. I've seen my own children grow and take responsibility in their lives, learning hard lessons and gaining wisdom from their mistakes. As they venture out into the world, our prayers become even more crucial in influencing their lives. We can no longer tell them what to do, but we can declare God's Word and pray for their well-being.

As a Christian, I believe that Jesus is the solid rock upon which both I and my children stand. If they are following Him, we are not just parent and child but brothers and sisters in Christ. He gives us opportunities to grow together in wonder at who God is and how He works in our lives. As I launch my adult children into the world, I must step back and trust that God will continue to guide and protect them. My role is to be there for them, helping them develop into the people God wants them to become, even when they're not living at home.
