Biblical Answer

If you have to give up your business, would you do it? The answer is yes, if it means following Jesus Christ. As Jim Elliot, a missionary and martyr, once said, "The one point to decide is, will I give up? Will I surrender to Jesus Christ, placing no conditions whatsoever as to how the brokenness will come?" When we surrender to Jesus, we must be willing to let go of our own understanding of ourselves and our circumstances. This means being broken from our own pride and self-reliance, and trusting in God's sovereignty and provision.

Following Jesus is like making an investment in ourselves, our health, and our future. It's not selfish to prioritize our spiritual growth and well-being; in fact, it's selfish not to. When we surrender to Jesus, we can expect a return on that investment that is 100% worth what we give up. This means that even in the midst of difficult circumstances, we can trust that God is working all things together for our good. As Psalm 20:4 says, "May He grant you according to your heart's desire, and fulfill all your purpose."

If you're struggling with the idea of giving up your business or a particular aspect of your life, remember that you can't take it with you. Your business, your career, your dreams - none of these things are more important than your relationship with God. If you're holding onto something that's not aligned with God's will, it's time to let go. Trust that God is big enough to accomplish all things, and that His plans for you are better than anything you could ever imagine. So, if you have to give up your business, would you do it? The answer is yes, if it means following Jesus Christ.
