Understanding God's Desire for Us

God's desire for us is not necessarily to give us everything we ask for, but to bring us into a right relationship with Himself. When we ask for things, we often do so out of a desire for self-fulfillment and personal gain, rather than a desire to know and follow God. Jesus said, "Ask, and it will be given to you" (Matthew 7:7), but He also said that we must ask in the right way, with the right motives. If we are seeking great things for ourselves, we may be missing out on what God truly desires for us.

The Purpose of God's Plan

God's purpose is not just to accomplish a particular goal or achieve a certain outcome, but to produce holiness in us. His goal is to make us saints, not just to bless us with temporal benefits. When we seek God's purpose, we must be willing to surrender ourselves to Him, to let go of our own desires and ambitions, and to trust in His goodness and wisdom. We must ask ourselves, "What is my vision of God's purpose for me?" and make sure that our desires align with His.

The Importance of Humility and Surrender

To understand God's desire for us, we must be willing to let go of our own ego and ambition. We must be willing to surrender ourselves to God, to trust in His power and wisdom, and to depend on Him for everything. This is the key to receiving what God wants to give us, rather than just getting what we want. As the Bible says, "You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures" (James 4:3). We must be willing to let go of our own desires and ambitions, and trust in God's goodness and wisdom. Only then can we truly understand what God wants for us.
