Can I still be a good Christian if I don't attend church regularly?

The Bible teaches that following Jesus involves a personal commitment, not just being a part of a church (Matthew 16:24). Being a Christian brings responsibilities, not a free pass to sin (Matthew 7:21-23). While church attendance can be beneficial, it is not the only way to be a good Christian. In fact, the Bible says that "where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them" (Matthew 18:20). This means that even small groups or personal Bible studies can be a valid way to follow Jesus.

However, the Bible also emphasizes the importance of being part of a local church (Hebrews 10:25). The church is a community of believers who support and encourage one another in their faith. It is a place where we can worship, learn, and serve together. While it is possible to be a good Christian without attending church regularly, it is generally more difficult to maintain a strong faith outside of a community of believers. As the Westminster Confession states, "The local church is a place where Christians can worship, learn, and serve together."

Ultimately, being a good Christian is not about attending church regularly, but about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (John 17:3). It is about following His teachings, obeying His commands, and living a life that reflects His character. While church attendance can be a helpful way to grow in our faith, it is not the only way. What is most important is that we are committed to following Jesus and living a life that honors Him, regardless of whether we attend church regularly or not. As the Bible says, "You will know them by their fruit" (Matthew 7:20). If we are truly following Jesus, our lives will reflect it, regardless of whether we attend church or not.
