Trust in God During the Nightmare

When everything seems to be falling apart, and life feels like a nightmare, it can be challenging to maintain trust in God. The tendency to blame God for evil or question His sovereignty can be overwhelming. However, the Bible reminds us that God is great and all-sufficient, and He has suffered on account of evil. In Matthew 9:29, Jesus says, "According to your faith, let it be to you." This means that our level of trust in God directly impacts our experience of His presence and power in our lives. If we doubt God's goodness or question His sovereignty, we may feel disconnected from Him, but this does not mean we should give up on trusting Him. In fact, the opposite is true. We should dig deeper into the Bible, pray more fervently, and trust that God's Word is clear, true, and good.

A key aspect of trusting God during difficult times is recognizing that He is the One Who suffered for us. Jesus took our place on the cross, and in doing so, He demonstrated His love and commitment to us. This means that God is not asking us to believe in Him because He needs our trust; rather, He is asking us to trust Him because He has already shown us His trustworthiness. In Job 13:15, Job says, "Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him." This is a powerful declaration of faith, and it reminds us that trust in God is not a weak or pitiful emotion but a strong and vigorous confidence built on the fact that God is holy love. When we trust God, we are not turning our backs on Him but rather placing our confidence in His goodness and sovereignty.

The Bible also reminds us that God will not betray the trust of the righteous. In Psalm 22:5, Romans 9:33, Romans 10:11, and 1 Peter 2:6, we read that God will not allow those who put their trust in Him to be disappointed or put to shame. This means that even when everything seems to be falling apart, we can trust that God is working everything out for our good (Romans 8:28). We may not understand what He is doing, but we can trust that He is good and that He will not abandon us. So, when life feels like a nightmare, we can choose to trust God, not because we have to, but because we want to. We can trust Him because He is holy love, and He has shown us His trustworthiness through the cross of Jesus Christ. This trust is not a feeling but a decision, and it is one that can bring us peace, comfort, and hope in the midst of difficult circumstances.
