Your Question:
How do I prioritize my needs?
Answer:
As a pastor and a husband, I've learned that prioritizing one's needs is crucial for maintaining a healthy balance in life. In setting priorities, it's essential to evaluate our use of time on a regular basis and consider three steps: setting priorities, examining for inefficiency, and starting at the bottom and cutting. This approach helps us avoid the frustration of trying to fit everything into our schedules and instead, brings everything we do under the lordship of Christ. For me, as a husband and father of two, prioritizing my needs means making sure that my relationship with God and my family comes first. As a pastor, I've seen many people struggle with the concept of putting God first, family second, and church third. However, I believe that this approach can be limiting and instead, we should strive to integrate every aspect of life under the lordship of Christ. This means that my priorities should be centered around my relationship with God, my wife Susan, and our children Joshua and Rebecca. In my own life, I've learned that prioritizing my needs requires discipline and intentionality. As a busy pastor and husband, it's easy to get caught up in the demands of work and other responsibilities. However, I've come to realize that if I don't make time for God and my family, everything else will suffer. By prioritizing my needs and making time for what's truly important, I'm able to maintain a sense of balance and purpose in my life.
