Starting Over: A Biblical Perspective

As a Christian, you may be facing a situation where you feel like starting over, whether it's in your business, career, or personal life. The question is, can you really be expected to start over after 20 years of business? The answer lies in understanding God's sovereignty and your place within it.

Understanding God's Sovereignty

God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe (Genesis 1:1, Psalm 104:24). He is in control of all things, including the plans and purposes He has for your life (Proverbs 19:21, Jeremiah 29:11). This means that even in the midst of challenges and setbacks, God is still working everything out for your good (Romans 8:28). If you feel like you need to start over, it may be because you're trying to control the outcome or navigate the situation in your own strength. However, God's sovereignty means that He is the one who brings about change and new beginnings (Psalm 37:23, Isaiah 43:19).

Embracing New Beginnings

In the biblical account of Job, we see a man who experienced significant loss and hardship, but ultimately emerged stronger and more faithful (Job 1:1-22, 42:10-17). Similarly, when you feel like starting over, it may be an opportunity to trust God more fully and surrender your plans to His sovereignty. This doesn't mean that you'll never face challenges or setbacks again, but it means that you'll be able to face them with faith and confidence, knowing that God is working everything out for your good. As you consider starting over, ask yourself: "Am I trying to control the outcome or navigate this situation in my own strength?" or "Am I trusting God to bring about new beginnings and growth in my life?" By embracing God's sovereignty and trusting in His goodness, you can find the courage and strength to start anew, even after 20 years of business.
