Your Question:
Will I ever be able to retire?
Answer:
The question of retirement. It's a topic that's been on my mind lately, especially with my son Joshua getting older and wanting to know more about the future. As a pastor, I've had conversations with many people about their financial security and the idea of retirement. From a spiritual perspective, I believe that our security and fulfillment shouldn't come from accumulating wealth or material possessions. As the Bible says, "You cannot serve both God and money" (Luke 16:13). However, from a practical standpoint, I understand that many people rely on their retirement savings to support themselves in their golden years. The truth is, there are no guarantees in life, and we can't predict what the future holds. As the philosopher Ralph Chisholm says, "they will disappoint you." But I believe that our security and fulfillment should come from a deeper source - our relationship with God. When we put our trust in Him, we can have peace and contentment, regardless of our circumstances. So, will you ever be able to retire? I'd say that's a question for you to ponder. As a Christian, I believe that our ultimate security and fulfillment come from God, not from our retirement accounts or material possessions. But that's not to say that we shouldn't plan and prepare for the future. We should be wise stewards of our resources and make provision for our needs, but ultimately, our trust should be in God, not in our own abilities or financial security.
