Why did I have to lose my retirement?

There are several reasons why one may lose their retirement. One of the most significant reasons is due to the pursuit of wealth and material possessions. As the Bible warns, "Pursue not your own good, but the good of the other" (1 Corinthians 10:24). When we focus on accumulating wealth and material possessions, we can become consumed by our own desires and neglect the needs of others. This can lead to a loss of retirement savings and a sense of security. The Bible teaches that true security comes from God, not from our possessions or wealth. As Jesus said, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven" (Matthew 6:19-20).

Another reason for losing retirement is due to a lack of planning and preparation. Many people fail to plan for their retirement, and as a result, they may not have enough savings to support themselves in their golden years. This can lead to a loss of retirement and a sense of uncertainty about the future. The Bible teaches the importance of being good stewards of our resources and planning for the future. As Proverbs 6:6-8 says, "Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest." We must be wise and plan for the future, rather than being lazy and unprepared.

A third reason for losing retirement is due to unforeseen circumstances. Illness, job loss, or other unexpected events can all impact our retirement plans. The Bible teaches that we are not in control of our lives and that God is sovereign over all things. As Psalm 127:1 says, "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain." We must trust in God's sovereignty and plan, rather than trying to control every aspect of our lives. By doing so, we can find peace and security in the midst of uncertainty, and our retirement can be a time of rest and service to others, rather than a time of worry and stress. As the author of the book says, "It's not easy, but it's sacred and it's strong, and it leaves a lasting legacy." By trusting in God and planning for the future, we can find a sense of purpose and fulfillment in our retirement, rather than a sense of loss and uncertainty.
