Is fear a sin according to the Bible?

The Bible teaches that fear of the Lord is a necessary ingredient in right living. It is an attitude compounded of a recognition of the greatness and the righteousness of God, and is often referred to as an attitude of reverence and awe. To fear the Lord is to be overwhelmed with wonder before the greatness of God (Ps. 96:4). The Bible teaches that those who fear the Lord will lack nothing (Ps. 34:9).
